Anne Hurley is a singing instructor, vocal health clinician, competition adjudicator, and choral director with a studio in Fairfax, Virginia. Anne was president of the National Association of Teachers of Singing for Virginia and was Minister of Music at Epiphany UMC in Vienna, Virginia for fourteen years. As an authority on vocal health, Anne has helped professionals develop strong and confident speaking voices, and has taught vocal health workshops at Loudoun County Public Schools and Chantilly High School. Her Exploring the Healthy Voice is a specially-designed course for lecturers, public speakers, and anyone wanting to improve their public speaking skills.

 
  

  
  
Anne has a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music Education from West Virginia University, and trained at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania and at the Britten-Pears School in Aldeburgh, England. She was on the faculty of West Liberty State College and Bethany College in West Virginia where she was guest artist with the Wheeling Symphony and performed with the Boris Goldovsky Opera Workshop. Anne studied Kinetic Awareness and body movement with the late Elaine Summers, and was a private student of world-renowned singing instructor Dr. Thomas Houser for twenty years. Today, Anne continues to study voice under the direction of Ruth Landes Drucker.

Anne has performed recitals throughout the United States and Canada, including Elaine Summers’ and Pauline Oliverios’ presentation of Hidden Forest at the Lincoln Center in New York City, and continues to give recitals in the Washington D.C. area. In 2018, she and Dr. Lisa Bloy gave a lecture recital and taught a master class at the Preucil School in Iowa City. Currently, Anne is preparing a recital on the music of Francis Poulenc's Tel jour telle nuit.
